The World Health Organisation (WHO) has praised Kenya for its transparency and swift response following the death of a patient who tested positive for Ebola after travelling from the Democratic Republic of Congo through Uganda.

WHO Regional Director for Africa Mohamed Janabi said Kenyan health authorities acted promptly to detect, isolate and manage the patient in line with WHO recommendations. He also commended the government for immediately sharing information about the imported case.

“I thank the Government of Kenya for its transparency and for promptly sharing information about this imported case,” Janabi said.

He described the response as an example of the International Health Regulations (IHR) at work, stressing the importance of countries quickly sharing information when dealing with potentially dangerous infectious diseases.

“I am saddened by the death of a patient with Ebola in Kenya,” Janabi said, extending his condolences to the family of the deceased.

The patient became ill while in the Democratic Republic of Congo before travelling through Uganda and later arriving in Kenya seeking medical care.

Janabi said the case should not be interpreted as evidence that Ebola is spreading within Kenya, drawing a distinction between an imported case and an outbreak.

“It is important to distinguish between an imported case and an outbreak,” he said.

“An imported case occurs when an infected individual enters a country from elsewhere. An outbreak would require ongoing local transmission within the country, which, at this stage, has not occurred in Kenya.”

This is a serious issue that your engolated mandible can't grasp. We are facing a serious health challenge. A city of 3 million people being confronted by a high infectious disease. A city that has sanitation system designed by a sewer rat. A city that is full of unwashed and unhoused..masses. a city with flowing raw sewer in every corner. A city with a healthcare system that can only be described a hell hole. May the gods of kenya protect her people. You inbred thugs need to work hard to contain the spread of this deadly virus. Kasongo is a curse from the gods

You are the ones with a much bigger problem. Even if 3 million people are in danger, or serious trouble, it is a much milder problem than your problem of aging in America with serious mental problem and bitterness. Uganda, Congo and DRC  have lived with ebola for 10+ years and less than 20K people have died out of it. Compared to similar period, drunk driving in kenya kills more than 40K, so ebola, is a very minor threat to Kenya. Alcoholism, Tribalism animosity, Malaria, HIV, etc pose more risk than ebola!

21? We have 1.2 million young people building housing and stadia, another 350K doing road/bridges/pubic works, another 500K on digital jobs and foreign work, many more getting jobs daily. Refinery will soon hire 100K in Lamu and beyond. All in the last 3 years. New manifesto in preparation is geared to full industrialization and hiring of 4 million youth from 2027-2029. Kenya is on the move and will be powerhouse in next 2-3 years based on what is in the pipeline! Leather and cotton industry taking root and require investors and workers at the same time. You are busy wishing Kenya bad while living hand to mouth in poor Delaware!

Will likely shoot to 20-26 like Uganda when the first case was reported. The good news is Kenya healthcare infrastructure and leadership are steadfast. By next few months, this thing will be over. I trust UDA government to manage any crisis with precision!
